Dyer County Master Gardeners recently partnered with Fifth Consolidated Elementary to bring hands-on learning to life in the STEM classroom.

Students worked alongside volunteers to create compostable flower pots, learning each step of the process along the way. They collected recycled paper and plastic containers for the structure, then made pulp and began shaping their pots.

Once dried, each pot was carefully decorated using decoupage techniques, turning them into one-of-a-kind creations.

The final products were boxed up and presented to the Master Gardeners as the project wrapped up this week. This project served as a great example of creativity, collaboration, and sustainability in action.

A plant sale featuring these student-created items will be coming up soon
