Fifth Consolidated Elementary School is located on Millsfield Highway, just outside the city limits of Dyersburg, Tennessee.  We are one of eight schools in the Dyer County School System, and we currently serve 358 students in Pre-K through 5th grade. There are 21 highly qualified faculty members and 13 other support staff members employed at FCES. Our school is well known for excellence in academic achievement and teacher performance.  Fifth Consolidated is dedicated to providing each child with the best educational opportunities available in a caring, safe, and nurturing environment.

Fifth Consolidated strives to help all students feel successful about their learning. Beginning in Kindergarten, the children are served in an Early Literacy program. This program continues through the second grade. At-risk first graders are introduced to Reading Recovery where they receive one-on-one tutoring. In grades three through five, students receive individualized instruction through programs such as ThinkLink Assessment Tools, SkillsTutor, Study Island, Accelerated Math, and Accelerated Reading. Fifth Consolidated offers a gifted program, as well as remediation and enrichment classes, in order to meet the needs of all of out students.

All stakeholders of Fifth Consolidated believe that students’ attendance, self-esteem, and attitude are enhanced when they are recognized at school for their accomplishments. Our goal is provide a variety of rewards, both academic and non-academic. During each nine-week grading period, students who receive all A’s and B’s are recognized as members of the Gold and Silver Club. We also reward all students with perfect attendance for the nine-week period with a special party. Students who maintain A’s and B’s for the entire school year, as well as perfect attendance students, receive Presidential Awards and medals at the end of the year Honors Program.

Fifth Consolidated has a large a very active Parent-Teacher organization that has contributed much to our school, not just by fund raising, but also by their many hours of volunteerism. Our parents and community members are very supportive of the school and the academic progress of our children. We are also supported by our Adopt-A-School businesses and appreciate their support. They provide assistance and support for our goals and activities.
